Windows Live Writer

Windows Live Writer is a desktop blog publishing application. Its features include WYSIWYG authoring, photo publishing, and map publishing.

Live Writer contains a full set of tools for blogging. If you can use Microsoft Word, you can use Live Writer. An easy-to-use interface lets you format blog entries without having to learn how to use a bunch of new features. With Live Writer, you can:

  • Upload pictures or videos easily from your PC to Soapbox on MSN Video or YouTube. You can load them into your blog quickly without ever opening a browser or leaving Live Writer.
  • Automate your blog posting so that new posts are added even if you aren't around to do so. With Live Writer, you can schedule blogs to post on a future date so you can plan for new entries even if you won't be online. You can compose your blog entries while you're commuting, for instance, and publish them when you're back online.
  • See your blog theme while you compose and edit, so you can see how your blog post will look before you publish it. Any photos, video links, maps, tags, and other rich media you insert are automatically published when you post.
  • Use multiple ways to manipulate text and graphics. For example, if you want to insert something, you can use the Insert tab in the top taskbar, the Insert item on the Compose taskbar, or the Insert item on the Sidebar menu.
  • Use the Format tab in the taskbar at the top of the screen to set up fonts, numbering, bullets, and block quotes. You can also do this from the Compose Screen taskbar.
