Windows Live Photo Gallery

Windows Live Photo Gallery is a photo management and sharing application. It is an upgraded version of the Photo Gallery that was part of Vista.

Windows Live Photo Gallery lets you manage, tag, and search for digital photos. It provides an image viewer that can replace the default Windows 7 image viewer and a tool that lets you download photos from a camera or other removable media.

Windows Live Photo Gallery lets you share photos by uploading them to Windows Live Photos and Flickr. It also lets you upload your pictures to other photo sharing sites such as Facebook via some add-in software. You must have Windows Live Photo Gallery to download full-resolution photos and albums from Windows Live Spaces. You also can publish videos to Soapbox on MSN Video.

New features in Windows Live Photo Gallery include the following:

  • A photo/video import tool that enables you to view, select, and tag photos that are automatically grouped by date taken.
  • The capability to adjust the shadows, highlights, and sharpness in a photo.
  • The capability to stitch together photos for a panoramic view.
  • The ability to resize photos and rotate videos.
  • Support for displaying QuickTime videos when QuickTime 7 is installed.
  • Face detection, which helps you search your hard drive (or drives) for images containing a particular person.

Windows Live Photo Gallery also integrates with Windows Live Sync and enables you to synchronize your photo library with two or more computers that have Photo Gallery installed and signed in on the same Windows Live ID.
