Starting Your Favorites Collection
If you're new to the Web and want to visit some useful Web sites that you might want to add to your Favorites, here are a few to help you get started. Not everyone will want to add all these to his or her Favorites, of course. But you're likely to find some sites you'll want to revisit:
- www.dictionary.com: Look up a word in a dictionary or thesaurus, or translate text from one language to another.
- www.wikipedia.org: Research a multitude of topics in many languages through this online encyclopedia. Anyone can contribute to Wikipedia, however, so consider it a good source of information but not necessarily a source of completely accurate information.
- www.ebay.com: Find myriad goods at this ever-popular buy-and-sell-anything-andeverything site.
- www.fandango.com: Find out what movies are playing in your local theaters, their start times, and so forth.
- www.google.com: Search the World Wide Web on this popular site.
- www.mapquest.com: Use this as a great resource for maps and driving directions.
- search.microsoft.com: Search Microsoft's Web site for technical support. Other useful Microsoft pages include www.microsoft.com/windows, download.microsoft.com, and www.windowsmarketplace.com.
- www.tucows.com: Locate hard-to-find programs that you can download and try for free.
