Panes and toolbars

In common with many programs, Internet Explorer has optional panes and toolbars. These are all accessible from the View menu on the menu bar. If you don't see the menu bar, press the Alt key or click Tools and choose Menu bar.

  • To show or hide an optional pane, choose View → Explorer Bars and click a pane name.
  • To show or hide a toolbar, choose View → Toolbars from the menu bar.
  • You can widen or narrow a pane by dragging its inner border left or right.
  • To customize the Command Bar (the one with the Page and Tools buttons), right-click an empty area at the right side of the menu bar or links bar and choose Customize. You'll see a handful of options that control text and icons, as well as add or remove toolbar buttons.
