Windows 7 / Getting Started

Configuring AutoComplete

If you don't want AutoComplete to keep track of things you type, you can turn it off. Here's how:

  1. Click Tools and choose Internet Options or choose Tools → Internet Options from the menu bar.
  2. Click the Content tab.
  3. Under the AutoComplete group, click Settings. You see the options.
  4. Deselect any type of AutoComplete options you don't want to use.
  5. Click OK.

The Delete Browsing History dialog box, shown earlier, lets you delete your temporary Internet files and cookies. It seems that almost everyone who browses the Web has heard of those things but there's a lot of confusion about what they are.
