Scenario 3: Driver in Driver Store , But Better Driver on Windows Update
On Windows Vista, the following steps must be performed for this scenario:
- The user connects the device to the computer.
- A balloon notification appears, saying "Installing device driver software, click here for status."
- When the driver found in the driver store has been installed, the balloon notification message changes to "Your devices are ready to use, device driver software installed successfully."
- The user can now use the connected device, but it may not perform optimally because the latest driver, which is available on Windows Update, has not been downloaded and installed for the device. In other words, in this scenario, you have not obtained the latest driver for the device, so you are being deprived of the best possible functioning.
In Windows 7, the steps for this same scenario are as follows:
- The user connects the device to the computer.
- A balloon notification appears, saying "Installing device driver software, click here for status."
- When the driver found in Windows Update has been downloaded and installed, the balloon notification message changes to "Your devices are ready to use, device driver software installed successfully."
- The user can now use the connected device, which should function optimally because the latest driver has been installed for the device.
Scenario 4: Driver is Found Somewhere in the CONFIGURED Device Path
In both Windows Vista and Windows 7, the steps for this scenario are the same as the steps in Scenario 2.
