Scenario 1: Driver found in Driver Store
In Windows Vista, the following steps must be performed for this scenario:
- The user connects the device to the computer.
- A balloon notification appears, saying "Installing device driver software, click here for status."
- When the driver found in the driver store has been installed, the balloon notification message changes to "Your devices are ready to use, device driver software installed successfully."
- The user can now use the connected device to perform its function.
In Windows 7, the steps for this scenario are identical to the steps listed previously for Windows Vista. Although Windows 7 now checks Windows Update before querying the driver store, no driver for the device was found when Windows Update was queried in this case.
