Change the Location for Ripped Files
By default, music you rip from CD will be saved in your My Music folder (location c:\users\username\Music\). If you'd rather store ripped music in another folder, follow these steps:
- From the full WMP window, click the Organize button on the toolbar and select Options.
- When the Options dialog box appears, select the Rip Music tab.
- In the Rip Music to This Location section, click the Change button.
- When the Browse for Folder dialog box appears, navigate to and select a new folder; then click OK.
- Back in the Options dialog box, click OK.
Playing DVDs and Videos
Of course, Windows Media Player isn't just for music. You can also use WMP to play back movies on DVD, videos you've downloaded from the Internet, or TV programs you've recorded to your PC's hard disk.
When you insert a DVD in your PC's DVD drive, playback should start automatically in the Now Playing window. Your system should sense the presence of the DVD, launch Windows Media Player, and start playing the movie.
Playing a video file you've stored on your PC's hard drive is very similar to playing back a DVD. All you have to do is click the Videos option in the navigation pane; this displays all the video files you have stored in your Videos library. To begin playback, doubleclick a video clip-or select the clip and click the Play button.
If you have a TV tuner card in your PC, you can also use Windows Media Player to play back television programs you've recorded. Selecting a recorded program for playback is just like selecting a video clip. Begin by clicking the Recorded TV option in the navigation pane, then double-click the program you want to watch.
You can watch movies and videos within the main WMP window or in the Now Playing window-which expands to the size of the video. If you'd prefer to view the video on the full computer screen (with all remnants of Windows-including the taskbar-hidden), click the View Full Screen button in the bottom right corner of the Now Playing window. Press Esc to return to normal viewing mode.
