Windows 7 / Getting Started

Design the Virtual Service Offerings OU Structure

The final step of service preparation for these server roles is the design of the Virtual Service Offerings OU structure and the application of proper delegation and Group Policy settings to each service.

Server RoleProcessor ArchitectureCPURAMDrive D:Drive E:Network
Application Servers and Dedicated Web Serversx64Medium to high loadRequired to increase processing speedsHosts data filesHosts transaction logsRequired for large user bases
Terminal Serversx64High load (depends on the number of users)Required for server processes as well as for each user (minimum 20 MB per userHosts program and data filesRequired only if the server hosts database applicationsRequired for better Remote Desktop Protocol throughput
Collaboration Serversx64High loadRequired for collaboration servicesHosts data filesHosts transaction logsRequired for better collaboration throughput
