Turning Off Homegroup Connections
My assumption here is that for your own networking needs, you're going to want the power and flexibility of traditional user account-based networking. If so, you must turn off homegroup networking by following these steps:
- In the Network and Sharing Center, click Change Advanced Sharing Settings.
- Open the Home or Work profile.
- In the Homegroup Connections section, click to activate the Use User Accounts and Passwords to Connect to Other Computers option.
- Click Save Changes. Windows 7 tells you that you must log off to apply the changes.
- Click Log Off Now. Windows 7 logs off your account.
When you log back on, you're ready to use regular user account-based networking connections
