How DirectAccess Works

DirectAccess is built on several different technologies as described in the next sections.

Active Directory Dom ain Services

An Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) infrastructure is required for DirectAccess, with at least one domain controller in the domain running Windows Server 2008 or later versions.

DirectAccess clients and servers must be domain members.
