Changing the size of text and items in Windows
You can change the size of text and objects on-screen without changing your screen resolution. You can set the size from small (100 percent or normal size) to medium (125 percent) or large (150 percent). This setting is easy to change, but each time you change, it you will need to restart your computer afterward to see the changes in effect.
To change the size of text and items on your screen, follow these steps:
- Click the Windows Start button, and in the Start menu's search box, type Display.
- In the results list, click Display.
The Display window appears.
Display window provides three preset sizes for the size of text and items on your screen. - Click a size to see an example in the Preview area.
- Click Apply if you want Windows to make that change. You will need to restart your computer to see the new sizes put into effect.
Note Many programs provide a way to change the size of how things are displayed within the program window, separate from Windows size settings. Sometimes the feature is called text size, magnification, or zoom. The most common places to check are the View menu, toolbars, or status bar, if available.
For example, in Internet Explorer and Windows Live Mail, check the View menu for the Text Size command. In Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, check the View menu or toolbar for the Zoom command.
Your computer mouse may also provide a zoom feature. In Office programs or Internet Explorer, hold down the Ctrl key while moving the middle mouse wheel.
