Changing Homegroup Settings
If you want to change the file types you share, just complete these steps:
- In the Network and Sharing Center, click the Choose Homegroup and Sharing Options link. (Alternatively, click Start, type homegroup, and then click Choose Homegroup and Sharing Options.) The Homegroup window appears.
- Activate the check box beside each type of file you want to share.
- If you want to stream your media to other homegroup PCs, click to activate the Stream My Pictures, Music, and Video to All Devices On My Home Network check box. You can also click Choose Media Streaming Options to configure media streaming.
- If you want to generate a new password, click Change the Password.
- Click Save Changes.
NOTE If you want to share specific folders and files with the homegroup, you need to activate the Sharing Wizard. In any folder window, select Organize, Folder and Search Options, click the View tab, and then activate the Use Sharing Wizard check box. With that done, click the file or folder you want to share, click Share With, and then click either Homegroup (Read) for read-only sharing, or Homegroup (Read/Write) for read and write sharing.
