Adding Driver Packages to Boot Images
You can also use Windows Deployment Services in Windows Server 2008 R2 to add driver packages for boot-critical drivers to boot images. To add a driver package to a boot image, perform the following steps:
- In the Windows Deployment Services console, under the server_name node under the Boot Images node, right-click a boot image and select Export Image to back up your boot image before proceeding further. This is recommended because adding an incompatible or corrupt boot-critical driver to a boot image can render the boot image unbootable and unrepairable.
- Right-click the boot image again and select Add Driver Packages To Image to start the Add Driver Packages To driver_group Wizard.
- Click Next to display the Select Driver Packages page.
- Click Add or Remove to add or remove filter criteria for finding driver packages that were previously added to your Windows Deployment Services server. Then click Search For Packages to display all driver packages on the server that match your filter criteria.
- Select the driver packages you want to add to the boot image from your search results. Then, finish the wizard.
